The Goldcorp project in Red Lake, Ontario is Canada’s largest gold mine and has one of the world’s richest gold deposits. To operate in the mine’s unusually narrow-vein drifts, Marcotte was contracted to design and fabricate a new smaller line of its vehicle-mounted underground equipment.
While Marcotte engineers were well-prepared to develop a vehicle platform suited to the small drift size, the true challenge was to source and implement a complete range of application components and tools consistent with Marcotte’s proven equipment designs, and fit them to these smaller units.
The new equipment we developed for this project met all of Goldcorp’s requirements for narrow-vein mining. The line has since become part of Marcotte’s standard fleet designs.
